Simon Abramovitch: thanks alot for your great answer. I guess my content on this blog isn't going to do well on digg. Will try to switch to a better design and ad-placement. This reply and post series has helped alot understanding Digg.

Sure.

First, you only started with the one vote that comes with the submission. To improve your odds of it catching on, you should try to share it with a few friends, through Digg's friend system and outside of it. Get the ball rolling.

As far as the content itself, I would say that it's far too commercial. Digg is not a platform to showcase products you're selling (and users know an affiliate code when they see one).

The idea is to create content people feel compelled to share. The t-shirts would have to be pretty outstanding to justify any kind of buyer's guide post being successful. The only kinds of buyer's guides that have any real chance are for tech products, Apple especially, but even then, most likely only from a trusted domain. (http://digg.com/search?section=all&s=buyer%27s+guide) Also, it would have to be an actual in-depth guide, not just a product list with a few extra sentences.

Remember that Digg is supposed to be a "news" site, and as much as non-news does slip in regularly, the odds of anything commercial-seeming slipping through are extremely slim. Even a non-commercial article on a commercial-seeming domain could result in a domain ban.

Checking the homepage (and going back in history), you can see how few home page stories are commercial in any way. If you still want to go that route, though, the products had better be mind-blowing. The t-shirts on the page in question are okay, but fairly par for the course as far as online t-shirt ideas. Digg is meant to bring special content to the surface above the other thousands of pages submitted per day, so it's got to be really strong.

Also, before you even see any t-shirts on the page, you're exposed to a fairly large header and ads. Not that this page would have fared much better if this hadn't been the case, but that much advertising visible before any actual content screams commercial intent. Digg users don't want people making money off of them, and will go out of their way to make sure it doesn't happen. Keep the header narrower, move the ads out of the way, and try to put a picture near the top of the article, so that when the page loads they immediately have something visual grabbing their attention (instead of the hot half naked girl in the header).

I know you want those adsense clicks, but the odds of a digger clicking are really really really slim, and if you did have success on Digg, would result in a terrible CTR and worse CPC in the long run. If anything, keep the ads out for the push and put them back in a prominent spot after you're done (remembering that you have 24 hours from the time the article is submitted).

Hope that helps. Please feel free to ask more specific questions if you have any!

Good read. There's been a lot of articles that have painting a dark picture for Digg lately.

Personally, I'll stick with SU and Reddit..

Pretty good beginning there. For new bloggers, that is quite discouraging for sure. Not to mention that a couple of buries, and your trusted domain might find itself untrusted by Digg afterwards and go into autobury! Waiting for the next part :)

My 2 cents to add to the post :D
To listen to a big bunch of video formats, no need to convert them, Perian http://perian.org/#detail will let you read them in Quiktime, like native video. :) The FLV player you mentionned is on Cnet too. http://www.download.com/FLV-Player/3000-13632_4-10467081.html?tag=mncol;pop&cdlPid=10896762

Add for the Firefox problem, isn't a big problem, you can do the 5 steps in 2.. with the Fast Video Download plugin witch let you get the video in one clic on .flv format. Need to let the video play one time before clic on the plugin tho'.

The fact that video are in your temporary Internet Explorer files is pretty scary at least,..
